It’s difficult for tire companies to market tires – they’re black, round, and they all look the same. Tires aren’t exciting or sexy. You don’t tend to think about tires on your car unless it’s either time to replace them, or until something goes wrong, like a flat or a blowout. You should, though! Car tire safety is as important as brakes, suspension, steering, or anything else that affects your control and handling. And underinflated tires don’t just waste gas through more rolling resistance – they wear prematurely, and they are at risk of failure from overheating. - Tire Gauge – If you can find a gas-station air pump that has the gauge built into the hose chuck, bear in mind that those gauges are notoriously inaccurate. The old pencil-style tire gauge is a bit better, but they’ve been superseded by more modern designs. We carry dial-type gauges, digital gauges with memory, and an ingenious tire gauge that allows you to read the pressure continually as you fill the tire.
- Tire Inflators – Nothing will put a damper on a trip quicker than a flat tire. And you’d be surprised how many people are driving around with an underinflated spare (remember what we were saying about not giving your tires much thought?)! A 12V-powered air inflator can get you out of that predicament quickly. Plug it into your cigarette lighter socket, and it delivers 250 psi to inflate a flat quickly and get you back on your way again.
- EZ Lug Wrench – Chances are the tire shop installed your tires using an air impact wrench on the lug nuts, meaning a struggle when it’s time to get them back off again, especially since most cars don’t come with the best-quality lug wrenches as standard equipment. Our EZ Lug Wrench features a 32:1 gear reduction mechanism (multiplying your effort by 32 times), and a set of sockets and extensions that will fit practically any lug nut. You may not be able to qualify for a NASCAR pit crew with it, but you’ll be back on the road a lot quicker!
